Creating a Soundtrack for a Campaign

Nothing gets Tricom’s juices flowing better than working with creative people. Such has been the case with Delta AFA flight attendants, who provided the creative spark for a music video that flight attendants hope will galvanize their efforts to win union representation by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA.

You can see the result of the collaboration in the embedded YouTube video here.

But here’s the story behind the video:

When Jarrod Anderson, a Delta flight attendant based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, traveled to Atlanta to join other Delta flight attendants for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day march Jan. 18, he came bearing a gift – a song he had written based on the campaign slogan of Opportunity. Unity. Respect. (OUR Song.) Led by Jarrod during the march, flight attendants sang the song in celebration not only of Dr. King’s legacy, but the legacy they’re building now at Delta.

The song was such a big hit that Jarrod took it into the studio when he returned to Minneapolis, accompanied by his band, Soulacious, and with the help of JBay Productions, which has produced a Soulacious CD. Jarrod also shot video in the studio, and of his fellow Delta flight attendants smiling and waving. Another flight attendant, Salt Lake City-based Paul Tanner, filmed other footage with flight attendants lip-syncing Jarrod’s song.

The maestro for the final product was Tricom’s own Dean Tinnin, who combined existing video clips he had shot of the flight attendants at a meeting in Baltimore with the new footage, and the inspirational song. The result speaks volumes about the power of people coming together in a union.
