Bayh's "Bipartisanship"
Years ago, Evan Bayh’s father and Vance Hartke, both former U.S. senators from Indiana, routinely were referred to by operatives in Hoosierland as Bayh and Bought. The younger Bayh has managed to collapse those two monikers into one identity, building an unparalleled record of political equivocations in the guise of bipartisanship while determining where the winds of campaign contributions were reaching maximum velocity. He wasn’t bipartisan, he was politically bipolar, bereft of any trace of governing philosophy, which allowed him to transform himself seamlessly from Republican to Democrat, one day to the next – tailor made for a lucrative future lobbying on K Street. blog comments powered by Disqus
